Parco dell’Uccellina, also known as Parco Naturale della Maremma (Maremma Natural Park), is a protected area extending for 100 kilometers on the coast of Tuscany. The park has all natural wonders: a large variety of  flora and fauna, natural reserves, stunning beaches and idyllic woods.
The park can be accessed from three different entrances. If you are driving from the North of Tuscany you take the Aurelia highway and exit at the Ripescia junction and proceed on the country road of Alberese until you reach  Alberese. If you are driving from the South of Tuscany you take the Aurelia highway and at the kilometer 166 you will find the exit for Alberese.
Inside the park there are densely wooded hills called Monti dell’Uccellina.
On the eastern and northern sides of the park the vegetation is mainly characterised by holm oaks, thorn trees and ivy.
On the calcareous soil of the forests there are holm oaks, strawberry trees and lentiscus. The silicious soil is covered by heather and cork oak. On the humid and shadowed soil there are  cyclamens, wild asparagus and liane. On the Eastern side of the Monti dell’Uccellina woods you can find myrtle, lentiscus, heather, strawberry tree, lavender and broom.
A large variety of untamed animals inhabit the park: the hare, the wild boar, the roe deer, the fallow deer, the wolf, the wildcat, the marten, the fox and several species of mammals.
The variety of the birds inhabiting the park is really vast and it includes over 270 species: among them, the tawny owl, the barn owl, the owl and the scops owl, the woodlar, the peregrin falcon, the kestrel, the wild geese and the cranes.
During the migratory season, the climate of the park attracts several species of birds such as ducks, herons and magpies.

Inside the Park there are three beaches: Marina di Alberese, Collelungo and Cala di Forno.
Marina di Alberese is the easiest to reach. You have to enter the park and leave your car in a car park. A shuttle bus will take you from the car park to the beach. In the summer months the car park is often full and it is better to arrive early in the morning to find a parking space. You can also reach the beach on a bicycle on a cycle path of 8 Km that starts from the Centro Visite.

The beach of Collelungo is few Kilometers away south of Marina di Albarese. From the Centro Visite there is a path of 5,8 Kilometers where bicycles are allowed. There is also a bus that can take you to Collelungo beach.
The beach is wonderful and it is often half empty.
Cala di Forno is a beach with fine sand in the South of the Park. It is accessible only with a park guide. The shuttle bus will take you to the Tower of Collelungo. From the Tower you walk for about one hour in an idylliac forest. Near the beach there are often foxes or fallow deers.
